One day, a woman and her dog, Aragon, were taking a walk near a mountain in Athens. It was just a regular day until she saw an abandoned box full of kittens. She picked up the box then took it home with them.

Now that they have a bunch of kittens at home, Aragon, a rescue dog, has got himself some additional grown-up duties. He willingly became the litter’s foster dad until they are old enough to be set up for adoption.

Aragon’s owner is a volunteer for an organization called SCARS or Second Chance Animal Rescue Society in Greece. Since they live near the mountain of Immitos, she is aware of the incidents where unwanted animals are left in the area.

These animals are left there to become prey to other bigger animals. Aragon and his mom cannot let that happen to the kittens, so they decided to save them from that unfortunate fate.

According to her, SCARS have rescued 25 kittens who are abandoned similarly in the area in just one month. She has her fair share of encounters with empty boxes in the mountains. Some of these even still have blankets and toys inside but no pet in sight.

The abandoned kittens, bunnies, pups, and birds are gone in a matter of a few hours. The common predators in the mountains around Athens are foxes. This is such a common occurrence in the area that people who find these empty boxes or abandoned pets can’t help but think “not this again”.

The kittens really are fortunate that Aragon and his owner came across them. Their discovery was caught on cam since they are really planning to document the abandonment of animals in the mountains and it is so fitting that they actually found and saved a litter.

According to his owner, Aragon is the real savior and has been nothing but a great foster dad to the kittens.
