The City Animal Control of Colorado in Texas recently posted a heart-melting plea to save dogs from being put down. The shelter was already full and can only accommodate ten dogs. These poor canines had only a few days left before being mercifully put to sleep. The touching post was accompanied by heart-breaking photos of their sad puppy eyes, seemingly begging for help.

The urgency is due to a local ordinance that allows strays to live in shelters for a maximum of five days. It can only be extended if there are intentions from rescue organizations or individuals to adopt them. Otherwise, they will be put to sleep.

Good thing, the innate goodness of the public won. Chief Charles Rice of the Colorado city Police happily shared that all the dogs are now safe. They are currently in foster homes, and some are scheduled for adoption.

Thanks to the wonderful people of Colorado, Texas, the future of the ten dogs are now secured and guaranteed. They proved that when the public steps up, nothing is impossible. Their collective effort s has made it possible for these furry souls to live happier and longer lives.

The incident inspired the people to clamor for a meaningful change in the system. Even Chief Rice acknowledged that the five-day policy is not good enough to find these poor dogs forever homes. Most commenters expressed their wish for the city to reconsider its policy on euthanasia.

The experience clearly showed that the overwhelming support from the public could prevent tragedy. Thanks to the cooperation between the volunteers and animal rescue organizations, there has been a downward trend on euthanasia. You, too, can get involved and champion animal welfare through organizations such as No Kill Advocacy and The Humane Society.

UPDATE (12/10/2019)- According to Police Chief Charles Rice, all of the remaining dogs now have foster homes or are schedule to be adopted. The last dog is schedule to leave Friday morning. We appreciate everyone helping us to clean out the shelter and find forever homes for these babies. These babies are still available
