Teresa is a kind woman from California who is always on the lookout for dogs in need. One time, she saw a small white dog running around the streets of a cozy Los Angeles neighborhood, and she asked the residents about the stray. They told her that the dog suddenly appeared several weeks before, and he was very cautious with humans.

Some of the people there tried plugging the dog into their property, but the little pooch refuses to go in. Even when offered food, he would not go near any humans. Seeing that the dog was dirty and most likely famished, Teresa called a nonprofit rescue group called Hope for Paws.

The very next day, the organization’s founder, Eldad Hagar, went to the neighborhood to rescue the dog.

A tasty treat

Eldad found the stray pooch hiding under a car. Gently, he walked towards the vehicle then crouched by the sidewalk. The little pup just stared at him but was ready to bolt if he sensed any danger.

Slowly, the kind rescuer took out a cheeseburger from a bag and unwrapped it. He started pinching off small pieces and threw them halfway between him and the dog.

The dog couldn’t resist the tasty morsels of food and went out from under the car and started eating. He then went near Eldad, who offered him more food with his hand. The dog started to trust the rescuer and ate as the man rubbed his back. Soon, he was able to place a soft leash around his neck.

Building trust

The two just stayed there by the sidewalk for several minutes. Eldad didn’t want to make him anxious and stressed out. The experienced rescuer wanted to build a bond with the white pup first.

Eventually, he softly carried the dog and brought him inside his car. He scanned the homeless pooch for a microchip and found none.

Eldad brought the dog, which he named Conan, to their facility where he was cleaned and given a thorough check-up. The rescue dog was later moved to a foster home where a loving couple took him in. For the next several weeks, they trained the dog and showed him how to be a good house pet.

Conan is now ready to be adopted. He is very happy and is waiting for his forever home.
