Stray dogs are the direct result of indiscriminate and inhumane dog breeding. Since there are not enough households that are willing to take dogs in, they end up on the streets braving all sorts of dangers. For most of these dogs, the future is no less than bleak.
However, some prove luckier than others. They get to be rescued and have another shot at a good life. This is such a story.
These two dogs are named Hazel and Aiden. They were both rescued from the streets of Lebanon. How they look in this photo is such a stark contrast to how they looked when they were rescued.
When they were first spotted by the rescue staff of Animals Lebanon, Aiden and Hazel were skin and bones. They were covered in sores and had fleas all over. You would never have considered the possibility of the two dogs making even the slightest recovery.
But Animals Lebanon did not give up on Hazel and Aiden. They took them off the streets. They then started the long process of curing the dogs from all of their ailments.
Hazel and Aiden powered through and made a spectacular recovery. They are now healthy dogs. Animals Lebanon is proud of this accomplishment.
But the most challenging aspect of the dogs’ recovery was not about their physical ailments. Both dogs were severely traumatized. They would not easily warm up to humans.
Having spent most of their lives on the street with humans treating them cruelly, the dogs have become wary in the presence of shelter staff. The shelter staff showed the dogs that they were on their side. Eventually, Hazel and Aiden were able to trust the shelter staff.
Now, this dog duo is almost unrecognizable. It’s truly spectacular what happens when the kindness of people and their resources are pooled together for a good cause.
