Wisconsin -It was an odd and a bit scary New Year start for one woman who found a stranger snuggled with her dog Benton on the dog’s bed.

Borboels are a breed of dog grown to be fierce guards. Benton is one. But this time, the dog’s intuition is different from his mom.

Lynn Sarver, Benton’s mom, woke up to a man who was cold out on her dog’s bed. She immediately woke her guest up and then both of them ran towards the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Sarver then dialed 911. Benton was rather calm. The dog, sensing no imminent threat from the person who was apparently drunk, assumed no defensive behavior. Both his mommy and her guest were terrified.

Sarver said the drunken man did not know where he actually is. She was his pair of glasses tossed about somewhere in the living room. Lynn Sarver tried waking the man up a couple of times but he was really out cold. After a little more tries and she did finally get him to wake up. The young man was apologetic. Sarver was very much weirded out to see him sleeping with her dog.

The young man was apparently very drunk and confused and thought he was entering his mom’s house. But, in actuality, he was entering Sarver’s. He got in through an unlocked side door and went straight to sleep with Benton. It was when he woke up that he realized he is in the wrong house. His mom’s place was a couple of houses from Sarver’s. After he cooperated with the police, he apologized to Sarver and went on his way.

Sarver has no plan on pressing charges. It was just a silly, scary mistake. Instead, she said she’d just be a little more cautious when it comes to her doors. She was sure both of them learned a lesson out of it.
