A man went for a stroll in Laurens, South Carolina since it was a gorgeous, and bright afternoon. He was appreciating the scenery until he noticed a dog tied to a post and lying still on the ground.

He approached the dog and observed that it was emancipated. The lining of the dog’s bones was visible, thus the man was uncertain as to whether or not the dog was still alive.

The man contacted animal control for assistance. The rescuers removed the dog’s chains and thick leather collar with the name “Champ” within minutes of their arrival.

The saviors rushed Champ to the neighborhood veterinarian for treatment. The staff fed Champ food and water before giving him a bath to remove the maggots from his body.

As soon as rescue Dogs Rock, an animal sanctuary, learned about Champ’s awful state, they realized they had to assist. They relocated Champed to a private clinic where he will receive continuous medical attention.

When Champ arrived at the clinic, the veterinarian was able to conduct a thorough examination. The physician observed the severity of Champ’s condition.

Fortunately, the Laurens police initiated an inquiry and identified the individuals responsible for Champ’s confinement. The previous owners of Champ were arrested for animal abuse.

Champ was required to remain in the clinic for health monitoring. Champ learned to walk after only a few weeks of physical therapy.

Despite suffering horrific abuse, Champ was the happiest dog the nurses have ever observed. It wasn’t long until he was healthy enough to be placed in a foster family.

A charming couple that enjoyed fostering offered to care for Champ. The moment Champ arrived at his new home, he began to play with his foster brothers.

The story of Champ went viral online. Hundreds of individuals applied to adopt Champ, but his foster parents were unsure whether he was yet ready.
