Without the appropriate care and assistance, dogs mistreated in their own homes are no different from those without homes.

This was the terrible tale of Phoenix, a starved Great Dane. In addition to dehydration and malnutrition, the unfortunate dog was tied to a kennel by his neglectful caretakers. Despite the difficulty he faced, Phoenix was confident that a kind Samaritan would come to his rescue one day.

Fortunately, Gavin Crowley, a local deliveryman, spotted something peculiar about one of the residences he passed. When he noticed the badly malnourished dog in the house’s courtyard, he felt like he had to take action. Gavin could not bear to see Phoenix in his current state, so he took urgent action.

Gavin informed the Humane Society to investigate the situation. Thankfully, the organization’s rescuers rescued Phoenix, and his family faced an animal cruelty lawsuit.

The dog also got the right care and help that he needed. With the assistance he now has, Phoenix is on the road to a complete recovery.

At the veterinarian’s office, the rescuers discovered that Phoenix weighed only 31 kilograms. Phoenix was visibly malnourished after being ignored for such a long time. Even though his rehabilitation took a bit longer than anticipated, the unfortunate dog was appreciative of the assistance he received. In a period of just a few short months, Phoenix achieved the necessary weight and reached 70 kg.

Phoenix would likely still be tied to his kennel in his old home if it weren’t for Gavin’s prompt decision to contact a rescue organization. A deliveryman was all it took for the dog’s life to change in an instant. And now, thanks to those that assisted him, he is on his way to finding a forever home where he will never be treated the way his previous family did.
